Location: Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, children ages 5 and under, along with an adult, can have some fun together splashing around the small pool at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center. Slip down the slide, scurry through the sand play area or tinker around with our Gadgets & Gizmos water feature!


Fee: $1.50 per person, including adults (season pass does not apply to this program)
Accompanying adult must be 16 years of age or older and supervising no more than two children. Children 6-15 will not be admitted.

Grab lunch from an area restaurant and listen to Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Ron Burchett.

The unique, soulful voice of acoustic musician Ron Burchett mesmerizes audiences throughout central Iowa. With guitar in hand, his soothing, melodic performances bring to life songs by such popular musicians as Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Kenny Loggins and Jerry Jeff Walker, and include the perfect mix of his own beautifully-written tunes.

Burchett has been playing since age 12, and began performing at age 14. A self-taught musician, he's been heard in Warren County, Iowa, bands since the '70s and one of those bands, Con Brio, has been inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Located on our unique town square, this family-friendly event has historically drawn up to 3,000 bikes and a crowd of over 4,000. In addition to the many standard and custom motorcycles on display, there is live music, food and beverages, vendors and exhibits, a live radio broadcast and award presentations

Before the Family Dive-In movie of Monsters vs Aliens, bring your own cardboard boat and test your skills as a boat Captain! Thanks to Canoe Sport Outfitters, we will provide the paddles and you design and build your own boat made out of CARDBOARD and DUCT TAPE ONLY. For the safety of the pool and participants, no other items will be allowed in the construction of a boat. We will have singles and team races in the following age groups: 10 years & under, 11-15 years, and 16 years & up. We will also have a family race which will require at least one adult and least one child in the boat. For a complete set of rules, visit our website or pick them up at the Aquatic Center or the Parks & Recreation Office.

After Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center has closed for the season, dogs and their owners can celebrate the end of summer together at this pooch pool party. Dogs will follow their owners' rules and be accompanied by their owners at all times. Dog and owner must be pre-registered to participate. A portion of the evening's proceeds will go to the Kiya Koda Humane Society and Indianola Off Leash Dog Playground.
